Paul & Karen Brown

Paul & Karen established SQS Video in 1988.  Combining their love for each other and their talents and skills, they have created a successful small business that has provided services for some of the biggest corporate names in America along with customers from all over the world.

Paul & Karen’s shared passion for creativity, excellence, technology and customer service, has helped the company grow from a small mom and pop video shop to a recognized and well respected service company dedicated to meeting all client and customer needs by providing the expertise of over 20 years in the video industry along with 10 years in the broadcast industry.

Karen, a Massachusetts native, oversees the daily operations at SQS Video which includes customer relations, accounting, advertising, assistant editor and producer, creative director, designer, photograper, and general administration.  When she is not on duty at SQS Video she is teaching yoga and nutrition classes and is in charge of operations in Barbados.

Paul, is a native of Clydebank, Glasgow, Scotland where he obtained his engineering education degrees in electronics.  Paul is the technical side of the business and the video wizard.  His expertise and knowledge of everything video reaches levels most humans can’t comprehend.  His reputation as a highly professional video teleconferencing systems designer and integrator is widely known.  His design ideas have often been emulated by the corporations who use his services.

Before going into the video teleconferencing field, Paul worked 20 years as a Broadcast Engineer.  Paul has built and designed studios and animation suites for Lorimar Pictures in Los Angeles, Bell & Howell/Columbia Pictures in LA  & Chicago, and for Televisa at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, as well as numerous television studios across the country.

After working also for SAIC in San Diego, as a video teleconferencing expert, Paul and Karen decided to begin SQS Video.  Since 1988, SQS has designed & installed over 200 video conferencing/multimedia rooms & facilities throughout the USA for clients such as Apple Computer, Citibank, Kaiser Permanente & Medtronic/Minimed and Google.

Although Paul & Karen oversee most of the daily operations, they also employ several independent contractors for major projects.  Their son, Justin, is also on staff and provides valuable assistance in audio mixing, video recordings, and editing, integration of home multimedia systems, as well as sit in for the occasional voiceover.  Son, Alan, also works for the company when he is not at his home in Hawaii.  Alan fills in as needed as a senior installer on selected video teleconferencing contracts along with oldest son, Kevin, who has his own business, California Blind Designs.

Paul & Karen recently expanded their business interests to Barbados West Indies when they purchased an oceanview vacation apartment that they operate as a rental business.  The apartment functions as a branch office when in Barbados videotaping surf events, compiling travel stock footage, and personal video footage for island friends.
